UMASS LOWELL WRAP-UP

My two-hour mini-course at the Learning in Retirement Association at the University of Massachusetts Lowell went very well.

Despite the terrific heat of the previous four days (and the room wasn’t air conditioned) about 20 intrepid souls turned out to listen to what I had to say about lifelong learning in the United States and abroad.

We had a great time, got a lot of questions answered, and even sold several copies of my book, “Learning Later, Living Greater: The Secret for Making the Most of Your After-50 Years.”

I came away feeling like I had imparted a lot of useful information, and the attendees seemed to enjoy themselves as well. They sent me a very nice Thank You note!

ANOTHER MARKETING INITIATIVE

In an effort to get print magazines to write an article about lifelong learning, I sent a short email out to about 40 of the best known magazines. Here’s what it said –

Speak to your age 50+ readers! A new story idea

10,000 Americans turn 50 years old every 24 hours—Baby Boomers who are part of your readership.

Retirement is no longer about “Early Bird Specials” or games of Bingo. It’s about using a Health Club for the Mind, Body and Spirit to stay alert and active! It’s about lifelong learning!

As author of Learning Later, Living Greater: The Secret for Making the Most of Your After-50 Years and as Director of the Elderhostel Institute Network, North America’s largest and most respected educational network for older adults, I know what I’m talking about.

A collaboration with your publication can highlight the necessity of lifelong learning for older adults and educate your readers about the exciting activities, travel, events and courses available so their mind, body and spirit stay healthy. Show your readers you care about their well being!

Contact me today to discuss how my expertise can fit into your magazine’s next issue!

Thank you.

To date, I’ve heard from two of the smaller magazines and we’re in discussion. I’ll let you know if anything materializes.
